We are a UK-based Registered Charity (No. 1106578). Our aim is to provide money, support and material things such as clothing, baby needs, educational material and whatever else is needed to enable the Nanyuki Children’s Home to stay in existence.

We are a small Charity, with 5 voluntary Trustees and no paid staff.  We have virtually no expenses, so that nearly all of the money that we raise goes straight to the Home.

The Trustees are from various backgrounds, but we all have relevant experience in something useful - teaching, admin, building, finance, childcare and Kenya in general, so we can usually find a way of getting the right things done!

Our involvement started a few years ago when one of the teachers at Moyles Court School (near Ringwood in Hampshire) who had lived in Kenya and been involved with the Home, suggested that the families of Moyles Court children could sponsor individual children in Nanyuki.  The scheme was started, was very well received and has grown from there.  As well as ensuring that the money from the Sponsors all reaches the children we encourage regular contact between them.

A lot of the children at Moyles Court exchange letters, drawings, photographs and small gifts with the children at Nanyuki.  It is very important that these children realise that somebody cares for them, and it makes them feel part of a family.
We regularly send out boxes of clothes, books, toys, toothbrushes and lots more that people kindly donate to us.

We have been fortunate enough to receive tremendous support in our endeavours from various organisations, including British Airways and the British Army who respectively provide us with tickets and logistical support. Andrew Sansom, who took a lot of the photos on this website, has also provided us with some great publicity material.

The scheme has now expanded, and many individuals and families outside school take part in the sponsorship scheme and support the Home.
